A practical guide to help you stay visible, relevant, and confidently discoverable in the age of AI and evolving search.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how people actually find us online.
Not just through Google searches or social media links - but through the questions they’re asking tools like ChatGPT and other AI platforms. The way we’re discovered is changing. And for those of us building intentional businesses, it’s important to keep pace in a way that still feels like us.
Many of the women I work with - coaches, consultants, wellness practitioners, creatives - are quietly wondering:
"Do I need to do anything differently? Is this another algorithm to worry about?"
The truth is search is evolving, but you don’t need to become a tech expert. You just need to make sure your website clearly communicates what you do, who you help, and why it matters.
And if you’ve already clarified your offers and refined your message?
Then this is simply the next natural step - a way to ensure your work is visible and relevant in this next season of your business.
In other words, it’s time to future-proof your website - without losing the heart of what makes your business yours.
Let’s walk through it together - gently, strategically, and without the overwhelm.
How Search Is Changing (And Why It Matters to You)
More and more people are using AI tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity AI to get answers, make decisions, and yes - find people to work with.
They’re asking questions like:
“Find me a strength coach who supports women through perimenopause.”
“I’m looking for a leadership coach for women in their 40s.”
“Who’s a good PR consultant for sustainable brands?”
These tools don’t just guess. They scan the internet for useful, clear, trustworthy websites.
ChatGPT, in particular, uses Bing as its search engine when browsing the web - so showing up well on Bing can boost your visibility across a growing number of AI-powered tools, not just in traditional search engines like Google.
Quick note on Bing: Bing is Microsoft’s search engine - just like Google - but it’s used behind the scenes in tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and even DuckDuckGo. If your website isn’t set up for Bing, you might be harder to find in AI-powered tools. So yes - Bing matters. And a few quick tweaks can help your site stay discoverable across a growing number of AI-powered platforms.
The Rise of AI Search and Why Clarity is Queen
This shift is often called AI search or conversational discovery.
Rather than typing in keywords, people are now asking full questions - and expecting intuitive, intelligent results.
So what does this mean for your website?
If it’s confusing, vague, or light on content, AI tools will likely pass you by.
But if your site clearly explains who you are, what you offer, and who it’s for - you’re giving these tools exactly what they need to understand and recommend you.
5 Steps to Future-Proof Your Website and Stay Visible Online
Let’s make sure your website feels like you - while also being crystal-clear to the people (and tools) trying to find you.
1. Use Clear, Human Language
You don’t need jargon to sound professional. You just need to sound like you - clear, grounded, and confident in what you do.
Instead of this:
“I help women transform their mindset and thrive in life and business.”
Try this:
“I offer mindset coaching for creative entrepreneurs who want to grow without burning out.”
That’s the kind of clarity AI (and your future clients) can work with.
2. Be Specific About What You Do - and Who You Help
Generic statements like “I help people live their best lives” may feel open and welcoming, but they don’t give search tools (or visitors) much to work with.
Let your specificity be your superpower.
Examples:
“I’m a movement coach for women navigating hormonal changes in midlife.”
“I help teachers and educational consultants turn their expertise into online courses.”
“I offer PR strategy for female-led ethical fashion brands.”
When you speak directly to the people you want to work with, they’re more likely to find - and trust - you.
3. Share Helpful, Search-Friendly Content
Your blog doesn’t have to be weekly or wildly long - but it should be useful.
Think of it as a space to answer the questions your clients ask you all the time.
That’s the kind of content AI tools love to share - and real people love to read.
Ideas that work well:
“3 Common Myths About Strength Training in Your 40s”
“What to Include in a Coaching Package (And What to Leave Out)”
“How I Built a Group Programme from My 1:1 Services as a Consultant”
This kind of content builds trust, strengthens your visibility, and supports your clients - before they even reach out.
4. Make Sure Your Website is Easy to Find (By Humans and Bots)
Some quick behind-the-scenes things to check:
Is your site public and indexable?
Have you submitted your site to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools?
Does your site load well on mobile and avoid heavy pop-ups or slow animations?
If you’re not sure, don’t worry - these are the kinds of things I often check for clients during a Website Update Session.
5. Use Structure to Make Your Content Easy to Understand
AI tools (and readers) love:
Headings and subheadings
Bullet points and short paragraphs
Lists, summaries, and FAQs
It’s not about dumbing anything down - it’s about making your wisdom easier to access.
The goal?
To help people (and AI) quickly understand what you do, how you help, and why you’re the right fit.
This Isn’t About Algorithms - It’s About Alignment
You don’t need to chase the next trend or turn yourself into a search engine specialist.
This is about making sure your expertise is discoverable by the people who genuinely need it - in ways that reflect how they’re actually searching today.
It’s about showing up with clarity and confidence, so your website becomes a true reflection of who you are and the transformation you offer.
That’s what future-proofing really means.
